What is patriotism? We often hear the word, but what exactly does it mean? Perhaps patriotism was best embodied by the words of Patrick Henry, spoken to the Virginia legislature on March 23rd, 1775. H Welcome to the National Museum of Patriotism. Obviously the word patriotism means different things to different people. We invite you to come inside and explore what patriotism meant to those Americans who came before us, as well as what it means to many of us today. We all share a belief in an idea called America. You are about to experience how that belief was - and is - expressed. Expressed not just in words, but in actions: both great and small. To bring ideas such as citizenship or patriotism to reality requires more than setting up attractive and emotion-stirring exhibits or displaying interesting and historically significant artifacts. It requires building on each visitors understanding of patriotism and helping that visitor recognize that true patriotism is based upon devotion to the American ideals of equality before the law, economic freedom, and civic virtue. The National Museum of Patriotism is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the history of patriotism. The Museum is a research center for exploring the development of patriotism through educational displays and exhibits. The Museum building is a 20,000 square foot structure in the heart of Atlanta. Within its walls echo the words and dreams of patriots throughout centuries. NOTE: Our old site will still be posted for a short time, it is available here.
